Members of the Philippine Center for Print Excellence Foundation (PCPEF) and Dscoop Philippines combined as one cohesive group to attend the International Graphic Arts Show (IGAS 2015) and Dscoop Asia 2015 Conference held simultaneously at Tokyo Big Sight last September 10-16.
The group, composed of around 60 printers arrived on September 10 in two buses and were billeted at the Sun Route Ariake Hotel, in Odaiba, a short 10-minute walk from Tokyo Big Sight.
The Japan International Graphic Arts Show (IGAS) was located at the East Halls. Despite the lack of English literature, and often the shortage of anyone in the booths that speak English, it is always worth visiting the show because it can still provide an overview of the latest technology and various solutions from one of the most developed printing industries in the world.
The theme and concept of IGAS 2015 was Print + Innovation – Further challenge to the print technology!
The market environment in the printing industry is going through rapid changes. The market volume in the developed countries is decreasing while that in the developing countries is rapidly expanding.
With the growth of the digital media, role and value of print media is being altered. These global environmental changes have a big impact on the printing industry.
It is important for us not only to simply catch up with these changes, but we should also proactively change ourselves in response to these business environmental changes, and lead the course of changes with other parties around us. The innovation by proactive thinking and action is a crucial aspect of the printing industry in the 21st century.
What innovations should be done in printing technology itself?
According to Peter Drucker, a famous management consultant, innovation gives birth to new values, wealth, act and satisfaction. The printing and allied industries must mobilize all their knowledge, experience and know-how to provide print customers with innovative ideas - creating new values, wealth, act and satisfaction.
IGAS 2015, aiming at innovation in the printing and communication industry, showcased the latest technology, solutions, and innovation potentials for the future of the printing industry.
