In today’s growing climate of environmental responsibility, we are modifying our business operations practices to conserve resources and minimize their impact on our planet.

OUR INITIATIVES
INCLUDE:

Ultimately, our efforts in sustainability best practices are to make the right choice for our company, our customers, and Mother Earth.

  1. Encouraging the use of FSC - Forest Stewardship Council and PEFC - The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification paper and paperboards as much as possible. The FSC and PEFC certification assures you of our use of paper products manufactured from economically, ecologically, ethically, and socially sustainable forests made to the most stringent environmental standards.
  2. Nitto’s HP Indigo Digital Press is GRACoL (General Requirements for Applications in Commercial Offset Lithography) certified to meet the exacting GRACoL testing criteria. GRACoL is a specification for quality color printing and is widely recognized as the benchmark for proofing and printing, which speeds up processes as well as reduces waste and spoilage.
  3. As a duly certified and accredited D & B Dun and Bradstreet company since 2013, (D-U-N-S Number 72-167-1253 for 2015) we abide with all human rights, environmental, health and safety, ethical labor, and financial reportorial requirements.
  4. We maintain the proper environmental licenses and clearances with our local community, our city and that of the Republic of the Philippines.
  5. We are compliant with all the current regulations of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Local Community Health and Safety and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
  1. Nitto’s facilities’ incoming electrical power utilizes power correct capacitors for energy efficiency and therefore energy savings.
  2. We educate and influence our staff, our suppliers, and our customers on environmental stewardship.
  3. We are now digging deeper into social and environmental issues throughout our supply chain. We deliberately seek to partner with suppliers and business partners who adopt a responsible position on human rights, health and safety, and environmental issues, and enjoin them to comply with our own Supplier Code of Conduct.
  4. We make certain that every material we use undergoes a review and research process with regards to compliance with recognized health, safety and environment standards. We also ensure that every material that we use and dispose of is thoroughly researched as to international best practices on disposal to ensure that we minimize our impact on the environment.
  5. We compost all of the organic waste at our facilities. Composting is nature’s way of recycling. Since approximately 45-55% of the waste stream is organic matter, composting plays a significant role in diverting waste from landfills and reduces the production of leachate and methane gas. It is odor and pathogen-free, and in addition, an effective composting program can produce a valuable, high quality soil amendment. We use this fertilizer in the 100%-organic vegetable, herb, and fruit garden in our facilities, which our employees are free to harvest for their own consumption.
  1. Since we compost all of our organic waste, and we recover and sell everything that can be recyclable, nothing is discarded and we produce practically zero waste.
  2. We harvest and save precious rainwater as well as air-conditioner water condensation as a reserve during the summer months, especially during El Niño, for washroom use, washing, or plant watering.
  3. We strongly advocate:
    • Responsible sourcing of materials
    • Responsible production
    • Responsible design and print
    • Responsible consumption and conservation
    • Responsible disposal and reuse
  4. We are a staunch supporter of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and thus commit to FSC’s vision of the world’s forests meeting the social, ecological, and economic rights and needs of the present generation without compromising those of future generations. We also commit to FSC’s Mission of promoting environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests. As a responsible converter and consumer of forest products, we are satisfied in making a difference and in helping to secure a healthier future for generations to come.
  1. We are a proud member of and donor to the WWF-Philippines which develops practical solutions to help the country adapt to climate change, secure food and water sources, protect wildlife and biodiversity, conserve endangered species, help corporations develop low-impact supply chains, and promote renewable sources of clean energy. However modest, our organization is happy to volunteer our time and effort, to donate, to help, and be part of the solution.
  2. We are a Contributing Member of the National Geographic Society since 2013. The National Geographic Society was founded in 1888 as an educational and scientific society with a mission to increase and diffuse geographic knowledge. Its headquarters is in Washington, D.C. It is a global nonprofit organization driven by a passionate belief in the power of science, exploration, education, and storytelling to change the world. With the generous support of their donors, the Society is able to provide funding, resources, and grants to scientists, explorers, and journalists in the field who push the boundaries of discovery, shine a light on issues we care about, and protect wildlife and ecosystems in critical areas. We suppport the National Geographic Society's mission of increasing global understanding through important research, exploration, education, and conservation programs around the globe, creating programs and resources to educate children about our interconnected world, and sharing stories of exploration and discovery with people everywhere.

Our goal is to promote the sustainability of the graphic communication supply chain so that print and paper will remain an attractive, practical and sustainable communications medium.

AS A PRINT BUYER, HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  • 1

Please specify responsible papers. Together, we can improve the management of the world’s production forests by using the purchasing power and influence of business to bring about change. When you do this, it gives a very positive image of your company by presenting itself to the world as a caring, responsible business. It also encourages others to adopt similar responsible purchasing measures, exponentially increasing the rate of environment improvement.

Order less printing! This sounds very unusual for a printer to recommend, but we really should change the wasteful practices of the past. On average, 30% of marketing print is just thrown away without being used. With new printing technologies, it now makes more economic sense to print less and then to just reorder when you need some more. We can print exactly what you need, when you need it – very precise quantities, on demand, and just in time, helping both your bottom line and the environment.

Print less again, but this time through better management of your mailings and effective use of your data. Personalized printing and precision marketing, rather than shotgun mailings, has been proven to dramatically increase response rates and reduce waste.
