Back to Environmental Stewardship Read about Code of Conduct

Key areas of concern are environmental protection and the well-being of employees, the community and civil society in general, both now and in the future.

The concept of CSR is underpinned by the idea that corporations can no longer act as isolated economic entities operating in detachment from broader society. Traditional views about competitiveness, survival, and profitability are being swept away.

Key CSR issues: environmental management, eco-efficiency, responsible sourcing, stakeholder engagement, labor standards and working conditions, employee and community relations, social equity, gender balance, human rights, good governance, and anti-corruption measures.

Respect for Human Rights

Our Code of Conduct aims to ensure that we comply with Philippine and international laws and regulations and respect universal human rights. We respect the personalities and individuality of all people and we do not discriminate against them. We do not hire minors, indentured labor and we pay the legally-mandated minimum wage.

Diversity

We are committed to providing comfortable and interesting work environments in which our people can safely and healthily demonstrate their talents.

Occupational Health and Safety

Nitto is committed to a policy of maintaining safe and accident-free workplaces at our facilities. We conduct health and safety checks and initiatives to reduce “near-miss” occurrences and other potential workplace risks. We undertake training and activities to prevent fires and vehicular accidents. We also undertake highly qualified training in basic life support, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and first aid, to improve health and safety standards.

Compliance

Ethical corporate practices and compliance are fundamental to engaging in business and materializing our corporate philosophy goals. We properly educate our managers and workforce to enhance their understanding of compliance requirements.

We recognize that global compliance will become ever more vital in the years ahead, Nitto’s Board of Directors has conveyed its stance of resolutely opposing bribery, and illegal and improper conduct.
